How to use a kerosene heater

I bought one of these for my green house. I need to learn to use it.

what do you think?

I found this on eBay today. I think it would make very nice house for my chickens! The windows open for air in the summer, close for heat in the winter. I would only need to add a laying box and some perches. Screens for the windows. Maybe a chandelier? It sells in 4 days, and it is only 1 Euro right now. I’m going to keep my eye on it. What a fancy coop this would be!

Mel Gibson"Chicken Run"Featurette:The Making Of"Chicken Run"Aardman,Drea...

I had a nice birthday. Jürgen and the kids took me out for breakfast, I had a nice visit with a good friend, went shopping with Philip, chatted on the phone and watched "chicken run" with the family. I'm excited I get to keep chickens in the spring (if everything is OK with the city, neighbors etc.). And now we figure out the best coop for our garden. That is a good cold weather thing to do. I don't like the cold, but I do love to dream!

some of my early years

I'm going to be 53 years old. My Mom gave me some old photos of me. I'm looking for more. I made this fast. I was in the Oregon State class of 84. Somehow I missed the State part. Just tired. I’ll fix it when I get a few more photos. I have many from SDSU, but my scanner is broken. Time does go...it fly’s! And I have spent almost half my life with Jürgen. We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary next year. We will have to plan a big party!

Chickens in the Spring

Jürgen told me I can have chickens next spring.   In the meantime we are thinking about this chicken coop I found on Amazon.   I am wondering if we should get 3 chickens, or as many as 6.   There are 7 people in my family.   If we get 3 birds, we will only have enough eggs to maybe eat one breakfast a week.   But I don't think this coop will hold more than 4 Brahma chickens.   Maybe 4 chickens?   I'll most likely let them free range in my big garden.   I’ve never had chickens before.   Some of my friends  have chickens.   Any advice? How much space do they need?  What kind of chicken breed is best?

Kippenhok Ambiance Large

This is the chicken coop I want for my birthday. Juergen thinks I am crazy, but he is thinking about it. And he wonders how chickens stay warm in winter.

Happy 4th birthday

It’s my god-daughter’s 4th birthday today.   The party is at my house.   She is a miracle and the greatest blessing!   My kids have been so much help preparing for this party.   We have cleaned and cooked, done some yard work.   Nothing is perfect, but it’s still nice.    I don’t think 4 year olds notice if you have pulled all the weeds.   As long as there is cake to eat, and a trampoline to jump on life is very good!   I think I can learn a great deal from them.   It will be a beautiful day with cake and good friends and one birthday princess bunny lover!

please pray

Juergen has gone up to North Germany to be with his dad.  He is 86 years old and very sick.  We don't expect him to live much longer.  Please pray for the family. update: Richard (Jürgen’s dad) had a better day. Jürgen sat with him all day. He is calm and breathing better. Thank you all for your prayer. I love Richard. He is one of the best persons I know. But I do not want to see him suffer, He is ready to go home. I pray for grace. I pray for grace for the entire family.

Dans le peau d'un soigneur animalier [A day in the shoes of a zookeeper]

You belong in the zoo!

I'm doing the happy dance!   My son Philip got the 4 week internship at the Heidelberg Zoo!   It starts next month.   He will spend 4 weeks learning what it is like to be a Zookeeper.   And if he does a very good job, maybe he has a chance to enter a 3 year training program.   But first things first!   And thank you for your prayers!   We feel very blessed that he has been given this great opportunity.   Not many people get chosen, we know it is the grace of God!
