birthday cake

Here is the cake I made for my 5 year old god daughter. It was a white cake (store bought) with cream filling and almond frosting, covered with organically grow fairy roses and French lavender. And topped with a princess crown. I tried making roses from butter cream, but failed, so I went with real flowers. I also baked a dark chocolate cake with a berry and lime cordial and real whipped cream. I’m not really a baker so it was a fun challenge. She was thrilled! I got a very big kiss and hug, and who could want more! 5 is such a great age. I’m so happy God has given my friends the gift of 3 amazing kids. Each one is a miracle.

Big birds

Nicole took my camera to Cyprus but she is too busy to take pictures. I would like to take pictures of my garden and my chickens. I put bales of straw in the chicken run to block the wind and keep the birds warmer. One of the birds is sleeping in the straw and not in the house. I started feeding them whole corn. I've read that is very good for them in the winter. And they continue to grow bigger, but we still have no eggs. I'm not 100% sure we got rid of the red mites that killed 2 of the birds. The vet said this is why they have not been laying yet. I'm still not 100% sure they are all girls, but they are not crowing. So I am hopeful I only have girls! It can take giant Brahma chickens up to 2 years to reach their full size. It is like I've got Ostridges with short legs not chickens!

need space

They are looking for apartments to house refugee families for up to two years. They need "45 – 50 m2 for one person, 60m2 for 2 people and 15 meters more for each new person. They pay 330 for one person in the apartment, 402 euro for 2 people, 479 euro for 3 people, 556 for 4 people, and 638 euro for 5 people. The heating costs are also covered. If you have a granny flat or basement apartment, that would be ideal. This information is from Sinsheim but I'm sure there are needs in Heidelberg area as well. not a good week for our President

My parents live in Oregon. I asked my dad what he thought about President Obamas visit to Oregon this week. He said he didn't like it at all. They preempted his TV program to show news footage of the Presidents plane landing, the president getting ice cream etc... He missed his show. It made me laugh. Not only is President Obama unpopular with gun owners, he has made the fans of Days of our lives mad.

How to Make Chocolate Lace Dessert Cups

I am often struck by how generous the poor are

An old women sat down in a cafe and the busy waitress came to take her order. How much is this nice a piece of cake, the old women asked? 3 Euros replied the waitress. The old women dug into her pocket and counted out her change. How much is the simplest cake? 2 euros the waitress replied. And she was getting impatient because she had many tables to serve. I will have the simple cake the old women said. And she eat her cake slowly. And then she left the café with the change on the table. She left 2 euros for the cake, and 1 euro for a tip. And when she found the tip, the waitress cried.

25 years ago today

25 years ago today, I married Juergen . And it has been/ and is wonderful! I had a meeting today, so Juergen and I went out to breakfast yesterday morning to celebrate. And we went shopping to buy the only thing we could think of we needed, 2 new cookie sheets. Yes, I know you are jealous! But seriously, I have everything I need and nearly everything I want. And my life is so full and wonderful because Juergen is standing next to me all the way! He is by me when it is hard, and when it’s good. And I don't need anything at all because I have him. And now we have new cookie sheets too!

update on Richard

Good news. Jürgen’s dad is a little better today. He is now eating and drinking. He had stopped drinking, so we were afraid this was it. But he is a little more stable today, so maybe we will not lose him just yet. Jürgen will still travel to the North of Germany. I thank you for all your many prayers. It is a great comfort.

Thank you for your prayers

Jürgen’s Dad just had a stroke. And Jürgen will be traveling to Northern Germany tomorrow. We are not surprised. We have expected this. But still it will be sad for Jürgen to lose his dad. Richard is a strong believer in Jesus. We do not know what will happen, but if it is his time we pray it will be peaceful. Thank you for your prayers.
