It's our last day in Italy. Tomorrow we drive home. I'm not sure when we will leave. In the early morning, or late afternoon. Nicole and I went to the store to stock up on all sorts of Italian food. I bought dry things like beans, spices and some noodles, as well as the cookies. And we also bought olive oil, vinegar and fresh peppers, lemons and red onions, garlic and ginger. We want to make our own ketchup this weekend when we get home. I put all our dirty laundry into big shopping bags. I took all our clean cloths and combined them in suitcases. So I've got 3 extra suitcases to fill with my food stuff. It should all fit into the car. This afternoon the owner of this farm will show Juergen and the kids how they make the wine. We are staying in the summer house on this large estate. The grandfather lives in the castle...really! It is all owned by the Martini family. I'm not sure if it's the same family as the drink company (Martini & Rossi ). But they own a giant estate that still grows grapes, wheat and olives. The kids and Juergen are at the pool. Its too bad the time has gone by so fast. I don't look forward to the drive, but it will be nice to be home. I am looking forward to seeing my garden. I bet it's grown!
Why not start with an IBC and cut a hole for the door? You could build closed laying boxes into it, and something for the chickens to roost on. Put some straw or saw dust on the floor. You could add vents to the side for air. If it sat inside a chicken run that you can walk into, the chickens could be safe, dry and happy. I have an extra IBC. Maybe this could be my chicken house? I bet I could even plant the outside of it with mud and grass for extra insulation and good looks.
