The census for Iraq in 1987 counted 1.4 million Christians.
People began to leave in the 1990s when the sanctions imposed on Saddam
Hussein by the United Nations began.
Today nearly all the Christians have had to leave the country or have
been killed. Did you know that when Jonah
preached to the people in Nineveh they repented and worshipped God? And Thomas the Disciple of Jesus stopped in Nineveh
to share with them that their Messiah had come.
So they converted to Christianity. The ancient city of Nineveh is the
modern-day city of Mosul.
over 130,000 people have had to flee Syria this weekend. Over 800,000 displaced people now crowd into camps in Turkey. The situation is very bad.
