Juergen and the kids worked on the green house all day. Most of the walls and door are up. There is only a small portion of the wall to finish. And the brick wall in the back got built higher so the stove pipe can exit out that wall. I also mixed up some earthen plaster (cob) to plaster the wood with. I bought a net to staple to the wood. I'll try plastering the wood on Monday. It will get a few coats of cob, then lime on the top coat. Nicole also painted a special sealer on the concrete on the bottle wall. We don't want the wall to fall apart in the rain. It looks like one more weekends work to finish this green house. And it will be awesome!
Why not start with an IBC and cut a hole for the door? You could build closed laying boxes into it, and something for the chickens to roost on. Put some straw or saw dust on the floor. You could add vents to the side for air. If it sat inside a chicken run that you can walk into, the chickens could be safe, dry and happy. I have an extra IBC. Maybe this could be my chicken house? I bet I could even plant the outside of it with mud and grass for extra insulation and good looks.
