The kids helped me pick up the wood stove I bought on eBay. I needed their help because it's very heavy! But it’s also very nice! It will go into the greenhouse as soon as the cement foundation is dry. So maybe by next weekend our greenhouse will be heated. It snowed today. I’m not a big fan of snow. I would rather have a sunny fall day. But there you go! I don't have big plans for my birthday. I'll go to church tomorrow. Sarah assures me she has presents for me (cute)! The kids are also making me lunch. Juergen has a business trip this week. The kids have fall vacation. If the weather was good I would finish the outside plaster of the greenhouse. Instead I guess we will be playing board games, watching movies and prepping the attic for insulation that will be put in at the end of the week. I hope I can get in some extra sleep. When it's this cold and wet I don't feel like doing much at all! Maybe I'll teach Sarah to sew? That will be like the blind leading the blind. I'm not much of a seamstress.
But I have allot of old jeans I thought we could make a big quilt from. A cold wet week would be a good time for that job.
Why not start with an IBC and cut a hole for the door? You could build closed laying boxes into it, and something for the chickens to roost on. Put some straw or saw dust on the floor. You could add vents to the side for air. If it sat inside a chicken run that you can walk into, the chickens could be safe, dry and happy. I have an extra IBC. Maybe this could be my chicken house? I bet I could even plant the outside of it with mud and grass for extra insulation and good looks.
