I'm taking TMG to help my liver get healthy. I take Trimethylglycin (TMG) 1000 mg of Trimethylglycin (TMG) 3 times per day. And my tmg comes with Vitamin B12 - 500 mcg. So I get the B12 that is good in reducing Homocystein. Homocystein causes your arteries to get inflamed. This leads to heart problems. I am mostly worried about the health of my liver. I am trying to do a low carb, high fiber diet with the supplements that encourage liver health. So TMG, Vit E, Bitter Melon, Chromium Picolinate, Vit D, Magnesium, and Milk thistle I also take Metamucil for fiber and Manako prebiotic Psyllium. Actually both are Psyllium. These are non-water soluble fiber that help lower your cholesterol and keep your colon clean. I think the Atkins diet is low carb, but not high enough in fiber. Both low carb and high fiber help lower your risk for heart problems and diabetes. But most people try to get the fiber from high carb sources like breads. If you have insulin resistance like I think I do, you should avoid carbs. But you can get fiber in vegetables and nuts and seeds too. But in the early part of Atkins, you cannot have nuts and seeds. So I'm taking fiber. I'm more closely following The Liver Cleansing Diet by Sandra Cobot. I do think Atkins had it right. You cannot maintain a low cal diet long term. The best way to control appetite is by eating protein and restricting carbs.
Why not start with an IBC and cut a hole for the door? You could build closed laying boxes into it, and something for the chickens to roost on. Put some straw or saw dust on the floor. You could add vents to the side for air. If it sat inside a chicken run that you can walk into, the chickens could be safe, dry and happy. I have an extra IBC. Maybe this could be my chicken house? I bet I could even plant the outside of it with mud and grass for extra insulation and good looks.
