Today the mailman delivered my baby redwood tree. It's only 1 meter high, but it will grow. There are 3 kinds of redwood trees. The giant sequoia , The coast redwood, and the Chinese redwood or Dawn redwood. The first 2 get a little too big for my garden. The Dawn redwood will also get very big , up to 60 meters high (but most likely 30 to 40 meters high). We are so excited about our new tree! I wonder if I should keep it in the house until the spring. I lost 2 trees last winter because of the cold. I wouldn't worry about it if it was established. It's a rare tree, I
don't want to lose it.
Why not start with an IBC and cut a hole for the door? You could build closed laying boxes into it, and something for the chickens to roost on. Put some straw or saw dust on the floor. You could add vents to the side for air. If it sat inside a chicken run that you can walk into, the chickens could be safe, dry and happy. I have an extra IBC. Maybe this could be my chicken house? I bet I could even plant the outside of it with mud and grass for extra insulation and good looks.
