Hurts me more then it hurts you

I asked my sons to clean their room oh, about 8 hours ago. It should have taken 20 minutes. 8 hours later, and a lot of fights later it is still not really done. I took away the TV and computer time, they lost some new Lego I bought for the vacation (but they had promised to be good), they won't earn their AWANA patch for cleaning their room; they will not get the doughnuts I bought for a snack. I had to talk with them and say I was disappointed. It really does seem to hurt me more then it hurts them. I worry about their future. Will they ever be able to get a job? Will they be able to keep a job? I couldn't keep my room clean when I was young. Why do I worry so much? I just want them to learn some character, responsibility, and follow through. I can sure understand the whole concept of military school. I can see these boot camps as an act of love. Are all boys so lazy?

That sounds like the same struggle I have with my boys. Mostly my 11 year old. It really grates on me when he actually does pick up the clothes off the floor & sends them down the laundry chute but when I go to do the wash, I am finding clean folded clothes mixed in w/the dirty ones! I feel your pain on this one :)

I battle w/my teen about her room, too. Ugh.

An AWANA patch for a clean room? I've never heard of this (and have been involved with AWANA for 10 years) Do tell??

Thomas is working on a patch where he must clean his room, put away his cloths five days in a row with out my asking him twice. So far he has one day. The in a row thing you can just forget. Maybe this is only in the German AWANA book?

Oh yes! My son worked on that awhile back. It isn't a specific patch, that's what threw me I guess! Thanks!

Olivia is born

My niece had a beautiful baby girl named Olivia Rose (Beautiful name). Everyone is very excited and thank God healthy! Congratulations to the whole family! Hugs to my sister Shelley who is now a proud grandma for the 2nd time. My sister Dianna has 6 grand kids (I think). My brother and I are too young for such an blessing. At least our kids are too young. I'm going to have to wait to be called grandma. Here is a cool picture I took off Shelley's blog. It shows Eric (the tired but proud grandpa) Lissa with her first daughter Charlotte, and then a sleeping Olivia Rose. 3 generations in one shot. How fast life goes by! How beautiful life can be!

painting the garage

Rick goes home in the morning. I'm sure he will be happy to see his kids again. 3 weeks is along time to be away. The time has passed so fast. It's been really wonderful! So wonderful!!! We may stay up all night, that way he can sleep well on the flight. Hopefully his jet lag will be less this way! Anyway, here is his painting. It turned out more then good! I really love it...just like I love my brother! We will have to do this again soon!

chicken coop idea

Why not start with an IBC and cut a hole for the door? You could build closed laying boxes into it, and something for the chickens to roost on. Put some straw or saw dust on the floor. You could add vents to the side for air. If it sat inside a chicken run that you can walk into, the chickens could be safe, dry and happy. I have an extra IBC. Maybe this could be my chicken house? I bet I could even plant the outside of it with mud and grass for extra insulation and good looks.
