I didn't grow up with Pipi Longstocking, the strongest girl in the world. She is very popular in Germany. I just bought the DVD's of an old TV series based on Pipi. I'm trying to fill in the blanks of "common" knowledge all the kids just know, and my kids don't know. My kids know Dr Seuess, and Calvin and Hobbes. Most Germans don't know these things. The boys love the DVD's. I'm also trying to move away from the more violent and aggressive stuff like Bionicles. I think it's ok to build the robots, but watching the DVD's and playing the computer games was making Thomas mean.
